New Photo Gallery

Photo Gallery

I’ve just released a new photo gallery. I’ve been using Pixels.com as both a photo gallery and for purchasing and order fulfillment. I like the way Pixels handles the purchasing and order fulfillment and will continue to use them for that. The gallery on Pixels will also continue to be the starting point for the purchasing process. (If you want to pop over to Pixels and buy something, go ahead, I’ll wait here for you.)

However, in terms of the pure viewing experience I’ve found Pixels to be less than optimal. You can’t see photos full screen. So I’ve decided to implement a new gallery just for the joy of viewing the pictures. I hope you like it.

In the new gallery you can choose an album to view very similar to the way it works in Pixels. Clicking on an album is where we see things start to differ. In Pixels you would see a lineup of individual photo thumbnails to select. In the new gallery, you see a mosaic from which you you can select an individual photo to view. Same concept but different approach.

The Big Difference

The big difference is in the viewing of the individual photos. With Pixels you can view the photo at approximately the same size as you see in my blog posts. You can select portions of the photo to see in full resolution. However, you can’t see the image full screen.

The gallery platform I selected does present the photo to you full screen. In many instances you can even click on the photo to enlarge it to see even more detail. I believe this changes the whole viewing experience for the better. It’s something I’ve wanted to have since the start. Being able to see photos “up close” makes a world of difference. I hope you feel the same way too.
