Twisted And Tangled Live Oak

Just a quick post about my “Twisted and Tangled” live oak tree photo. It’s actually a photo I took about a year ago and I just noticed it recently. I probably missed it because it is similar to other photos from that trip. This was a photo road trip with 3 friends down to the Gulf coast in the Corpus Christi area. They went for the wildlife shots; I went for the landscapes. It was a fun trip.

While they were busy photographing Whooping Cranes I noticed a grove of live oak trees on the other side of the field. The Gulf breezes had twisted and tangled the branches into fantastic shapes. We stopped for a look when they were done shooting. I was a nice day with a beautiful cloudy sky. As a result, the live oak trees were lit on and off by the morning light as the clouds past. When lit. they really looked fantastic set against the clouds.

So here is the shot. The subject is similar to two shots I published earlier. These three shots were of two different groups of trees and all were different compositions. One of the earlier shots was a color shot. The other was sepia. This would be a BNW shot. I’ve been experimenting with using gradient maps to do my BNW conversions. So this would be a great opportunity to continue the experiment. Here it is, let me know what you think.
