Join Me On Vero

Please join me on Vero. Vero is a relatively new social media platform that I’ve just started using. Its tagline is “True Social” indicating is tries to be social media as we always thought it should be. This get’s back to the original concept of social media before all the hype, ads and the never ending pursuit for attention and likes took over.

Vero is a place to share photos, videos, music, movies/tv, books, games, apps and places. In addition, you can also share links to anything not covered by that list. A friend, Hali Sowle suggested Vero to me. She mentioned the sense of community that she got from Vero. Community is one of those things that was originally touted as a basic premise of social media. Unfortunately, many platforms have completely gotten away from that.

I’ve only been using Vero for a very short time but I can feel that sense of community Hali was referring to. Vero is similar to Instagram but without all the noise and frenetic histrionics. Of course there are wannabe influencers and models desperately seeking likes and followers. However, there is much less of this than on Instagram. To me, Vero just seems to be calmer, more serious about good content, and reasoned in its approach. I like that.

How Vero Works

Vero’s business model is subscription based. However, being a relatively new platform, if you join as a founding member, it is free for life. There is no indication of how long that will be the case. A couple of important things they offer are no ads, no algorithms, and no data-mining. Vero is for iOS and Android platforms. They also have a Beta version of a desktop app for PC and Mac. Additionally, they have a webview to share VERO profiles (public posts only) on a web browser. However, as the name implies, webview does lack the ability for interaction. For example, take a look at the webview of my account.

So, if this sounds like something that might interest you please join me on Vero. I hope to see you there. By the way, I am not compensated in any way for this post.
