Waterfalls

Murhut Falls

Waterfalls are something everyone loves. In a time when just about everyone’s likes or dislikes are formed by their political persuasion, it is nice to find something that is universally loved.

During a recent trip to the Pacific Northwest we visited the Olympic Peninsula including Olympic National Park. Seattle and Vancouver were also on the itinerary. On the way to Vancouver we saw a sign for North Cascades National Park which I had never heard of before. So, on the way back to Seattle be did a quick unplanned visit to North Cascades.

Within in those areas there are reportedly 30+ waterfalls. Needless to say, we didn’t get to visit all of them. However, we did manage to see about one-third of the them. I got decent pics at 7 falls. Some of the falls are easily accessible. By this, I mean you park the car and walk a few feet and you’re there. Others require hikes of up to a mile one-way.

Interestingly, Olympic NP is one of the most popular national parks while North Cascades is one of the least visited national park. While the Olympic peninsula has most of the falls (20+), North Cascades is well worth the visit. To be honest I’m not sure why North Cascades doesn’t get that many visitors; it’s beautiful.

The Photos

So enough with all the chit-chat. Here are the photos.

Murhut Falls is my favorite. It’s a two-tier 130 foot beauty.

With a drop of over 240 feet the Gorge Creek Falls were the most impressive. The view from the bridge over Gorge Creek is amazing.
